PEOPLES ORGANIZATION WEEKLY MEETING
Weekly meeting was conducted by the Amore peoples organization (PO) together with the OC representative at Amore village, Anislag, Daraga, Albay last August 23, 2010.
The said meeting was participated by the new set of peoples organization officres. Tirso Millena-president; Rommel Macinas-vice president; Janeth Babia-secretary; and Joy Llanera-traesurer.
The main agenda of the said meeting was to assess the past activities of the community, to have the updates of last week task and sharing experiences, and the presentation of the proposed activities for the next week.
The secretary and the president presented the appointed committee heads of the different committees created; committee on health-Merlina Jerao; comitee on sanitation- Edgardo Llanza; committee on education – May Masayda and Angelica Lucenario; committee on youth – Jomarie Baylon and the PO will be in charge for the committee on electrification, the committee on peace and order is to be filled up since the transition is ongoing and the legal requirements is still on the process. The appointed heads of committee will be the one responsible for the different activities related to their field.
On the other hand the president also discussed their next step on the process of electrification since the Albay electric cooperative (ALECO) the local electrification provider will process their records and the community people agreed to have a temporary Barangay Power Associaltion(BAPA). “Kailangan na muna namin pumasok sa BAPA temporarily para magkaroon ng Kuryente, and then after the review of ALECO, doon pa rin ang choice namin, para hindi masyadong mahal ang rate, added by Tirso.” After the discussion on electricity the group focus on livelihood topic, they said that “We will form a livelihood for women, para maging busy na rin sila and maging productive, handicraft is the priority choice, were they can make abaca slippers and banig, we have the manpower for that and we have the area for production, we have 4 makinas(sewing machine, 1 high speed and 3 manual.)but we do not have the starting capital for the said proposed livelihood. The OC worker on the other hand encourage the PO to have the said proposal and somehow the OC can help in terms of starting capital and other training for livelihood development. In addition to the proposed livelihood, OC also presented the opportunities for the Organic farming to be implemented in the relocation site, the PO affirmed on that and open for the training seminars to be scheduled as soon as possible.”marami naman kaming mga bakanteng lupa ng pwede mapagtaniman and all we want is the technical know how, kahit na meron naman kaming kaalaman sa pagtatanim, but mas mainam kung paggagamitan ng mga latest technology and innovations on farming, added by Rommel.
OC worker also presented the planned painting and gate construction in partnership with Ms. Andrea's group, the PO is very positive on that and they are willing to help also in the said activity. Right now their task is to compute first the bill of materials for the proposed gate. With regards to the PBSP livelihood projects, Ate cathy and ate mylene affirmed on the OC plan, which is to identify the top 20 most profitable goods in tindahan and disposed the less profitable items by means of bargaining it to the retailer store. They will implement the said new scheme this coming weeks. The bakery project on the other hand is still on the process of final revision and open for recommendation, by tuesday Aug. 24, 2010. OC(gerry) will meet PBSP for submission of bakery proposal.
After the discussion and presentation of the agenda, the open forum and sharing followed and over all the Peoples Organization of Amore is looking forward for the positive response of their proposed livelihood projects and next activity for the betterment of the entire community. Gerry Muni
